About the Author
¨ ALLÂMAH NOORUDDÎN The interpreter of the Holy Qur’ân, was a scholar of international fame and recognition. Five biographies have been written on his life. He is the author of more than 15 books on Islam and comparative religion. His Arabic commentary (Tafsîr) of the Holy Qur’ân, for the Arabic speaking readers, is being readied for the press. In order to obtain the requisite feel of the language of the Holy Qur’ân, Allâmah Nooruddîn, spent many years in the Arabian desert. He lived in the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah and among the Arab beduins of Hijaz, to learn the classical Qur’ânic Arabic. He was able to feel, hear, read and write classical Arabic. His poetry and prose were superb. He had not only collected and consulted the previous commentaries of the Holy Qur’ân but had also gone back to the oldest and most reliable Arabic lexicons and poetry of pre-Islamic era, to ascertain the real classical and root meanings of the Arabic words used in the Qur’ân. He had an invaluable collection of books in his personal library, which was ‘One of the best personal Islamic libraries in the world.’ (Oriental Magazine). ¨AMATUL RAHMÂN OMER. The Holy Qur’ân thus explained and interpreted by Allâmah Nooruddîn was rendered into English by Mrs. Amatul Rahmân Omer. She is the FIRST WOMEN in the Islamic history to translate the Holy Qur’ân in English. She was a scholar of English and Arabic language. She was awarded several Gold and Silver medals from the University for her outstanding distinction and achievement in the Arabic language. She spent most part of her life in teaching Arabic and English. She completed the translation in June 1990 and died a few days after the final revision on July 15th 1990, in Rhienfelden, Germany. (May Allâh be please with her and accept her work). ¨ABDUL MANNÂN OMER Mrs. Omer was assisted in this difficult and monumental task of translation by her learned husband Abdul Mannân Omer. For the later’s erudition and knowledge of Arabic and Islamic studies, the fact alone besides others, is a living testimony that for 25 years he had been the Editor of the ‘Encyclopedia of Islam’ which includes more than one hundred published articles of his own on Islam.

The version I received has a band that goes around it. This translation is pretty good. It is older English but that shows you that the translator tried to not alter the text as Least as possible
Just what I needed! I’m learning Arabic and knew that I would need this to understand the culture more for moving to the Middle East next year and the translation is very helpful! It’s so beautiful and I love the gold trimming around the pages. Very similar to the common bible look.
When I was given my shahata, i really didn't no enough of this religion. I had started reading the book and I got peaceful feelings. But later my feelings were in shock! Then all i got was hatred

I love this Quran so much! The introduction goes so much in depth to the background and purpose of the Quran and how it came to be. Absolutely fell in love with the writing. I also eally appreciate the effort made to provide as much background information as possible on the requirements for translation and about the translator. If you are looking for a Quran to have by your side this is it.

I first purchased this Qur'aan years ago. It was the first edition and I have purchased several copies for family and friends and continue to gift it as I am tonight. It is the best as it is an easy read. The foreword is priceless. If one only read the foreword, s/he would have a comprehensive basic understanding of what Al-Islam is and is not. May Allah Most High reward the authors for a profound undertaking.
