This is a really cute coloring book of 20 dragon designs. These are cute and fun rather than fierce. Frankly, I find them adorable and would have fun coloring them with my grandchildren (though the level is above their skill set at this time.)Some of my dragon books are really for much older children and adults but these little cuties are not threatening at all. They are simply lots of fun to color. One of my favorites is the little dragon who seems to have caught a cold – with hot drink in hand and thermometer in its mouth.While the designs of the dragons themselves have some detail, most of the pages are what I would categorize as fairly easy to color. There is plenty of room to add your own special touches if you wish.This is what I found in this coloring book:20 cute and adorable dragons with two copies of each design (total 40 coloring pages) – plus bonus designs from other coloring books by the artistPrinted one side of the pagePaper is typical inexpensive quality by CreateSpace printing: thin, slightly rough and non-perforated. In this book, the pages are white on the front and black with white edging on the back.The designs do not merge into the binding. The designs do not have a frame and some of the designs have unfinished elements at the edges.Glue BindingCreate Space Paper/Media QualityWhile you cannot see the bleed-through because of the back of the page is black, the ink does still bleed-through (as noted below. I test the medium on the black backed pages as well as the front pages which are white on both sides.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work fairly well with this publisher's paper provided you don't press extremely hard while coloring. I find that I can layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. This is true of both oil and wax based pencils. I have also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in this type of book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.
I have fallen madly in love with all of the little characters in this book. I have collected other books by this artist, and she doesn't let us down with this new series. These dragons are absolutely adorable. They will put a smile on your face......so let's out a little color in theirs, lol. You won't be disappointed with this book.Understand that when you purchase this book is a typical Create Space book; in other words, the paper is terrible. But, if you are as accustomed to this paper as I am, you will copy your pages to better paper before coloring them.Have fun with these little guys!
I took a chance with this book but I’m glad I did. The dragons are adorable. I don’t have any other books by Tatiana ( Tanya Bogema) so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’ll definitely buy her others now. The paper is on the thin side but I expected that. It’s typical Create Space paper. The pages are single-sided & there are 2 of each which I love. I like to be able to use a different medium or color scheme or you can save one for a while to see how far your skills have come. Now I just need to decide which picture to color first. A very difficult decision!
Really Cute dragons. Yes, paper is thin but still takes color nicely. The one drawback to the book is a few of the drawings need a little more work on proportions and perspective from the illustrator. To be fair, it’s not like there’s a copy of Grey’s DRAGON Anatomy readily available. You’d have to use a combination of lizard/dinosaur/bird photos as a guide to achieve a “balanced†form. As an example of the issue, check out the funky foreshortening job on that tail. Behind it is there a Second tail or a back leg or is it an ear? ( I colored as if it’s an ear but who knows?)
I LOVE the fact that each of the dragon pages has 2 copies and that each of the pages is black on the backside. so Dragon images is 20x2 and then there are some sample pages from other books (1 copy each) 11 of those.
The pictures are cute. There are doubles of every drawing. I kinda dig this. I've been able to share the copies with my kids. The paper isn't of decent quality. It is thin and hard to use markers. The ink also smears with my blending pencil. I only paid $4 so I'm not too worried.
I LOVE THIS BOOK. I ALSO BOUGHT NICE LITTLE DRAGONS 2 AND THAT IS EQUALLY CUTE. I CANT WAIT TO GET STARTED COLORING IN IT. THIS WAS MY FIRST BOOK BY TATIANA AND I AM ANTICIPATING HAVING MUCH FUN COLORING IN IT.
Love this! Love that each page is doubled so if you mess up or want to go with another color you can. I'll order more from this artist.
